About

Boyish

Boyish is a contemporary denim brand that emerged from a desire to revolutionize the fashion industry's approach to sustainability. Founded by California native Jordan Nodarse in 2018, Boyish represents a fusion of his passion for design and commitment to environmental responsibility. Drawing inspiration from vintage aesthetics and modern trends, Nodarse set out to create a denim brand that not only prioritizes style and quality but also champions ethical and eco-conscious practices.

Driven by a deep-rooted belief in the power of conscious consumerism, Boyish strives to redefine the narrative surrounding denim production. Nodarse recognized the environmental toll of traditional denim manufacturing and sought to challenge industry norms by offering a more sustainable alternative. Thus, Boyish was born, with a mission to prove that fashion can be both chic and environmentally friendly.

The brand's name, "Boyish," reflects its rebellious spirit and commitment to breaking away from conventional fashion paradigms. Embracing a gender-neutral ethos, Boyish celebrates individuality and inclusivity, inviting everyone to join the movement towards a more sustainable future.

  • Educational & Transparent. Boyish is not only transparent in their sourcing and production decisions, but they also help customers to understand why they make the decisions they make. Their website provides in-depth explanation of fabric choices, production processes and reutlization efforts. No digging needed. The curious can even check out their annual sustainability report to learn more about their fiber usage, traceability, their factories, and their carbon footprint. Boyish is clear on their future goals and provide insight into where they stand today.
  • Innovation, innovation, innovation.  Boyish is using cutting edge production technologies and new sustainable fibers. For example, Boyish uses a faux stone washing process rather than the conventional pumice stone washing. This allows all of the water used in the washing process to be recycled, as no sludge is created from the faux stone, unlike traditional stones. The brand also uses laser finishing machines and natural enzymes to create washed and vintage looks, saving water, reducing chemical usage and maximazing energy efficiency.
Boyish has a list of their ‘Yes’ and ‘No” fibers, using data from  lifecycle assessments to articulate their decision. The five fibers sourced for denim include certified organic cotton, recycled cotton, Tencel Lyocell, Tencel x Refibra Lyocell, and a biodegradable stretch material.
  • Circular Boyish keeps circularity at the forefront of their decision making process. As members of the The Jeans Redesign Project they are committed to making durable jeans that have an extended lifespan. They use recycled cotton, deadstock fabric, and even recycled labels. Their fabric and materials choice enable their jeans to be more durable, recyclable and degradable (if they do end up in a landfill).
They even have a Consignment Shop where customers can re-sell their pre-loved Boyish jeans.
